Client Brief

Our clients were in a dated space and not located in a prime area of Maidstone. They wanted to surrender their lease and move to more prestigious offices.

Due to the nature of the business, our client needed security for file storage and a fireproof room, without this critical feature dominating the open plan feel of the floor.

Our Solution

Our designers ensured that the fireproof room would become practical whilst also as unobtrusive as possible.

The quirky shape of the 4th floor created many challenges for the office design but we knew the space well as we had previously planned and designed it for other prospective clients. The quirky niche areas proved perfect for private seating spaces in the office. As well as the privacy, our plan created an informal and sociable zone within the breakout space.

The unusual apexes and shapes of the ceiling allowed us to create bespoke boardroom and office meeting room areas. Along with a welcoming office reception area reflecting the company’s corporate colours; data, flooring, air conditioning, decorations and furniture completed the new office fit-out for this friendly and local business.

Glass 360 View Office Boardroom

The position of the boardroom within the office needed to be close to the entrance so that visitors had a direct route without having to walk through the workplace.

The client wanted an open space office so the glass panels around this boardroom was a design feature that enabled this open feel while providing a sense of privacy with the frosted panels in the middle.

Modern Kitchen and Office Breakout Area

In the company’s previous office they have a semi-open plan workspace with their teapoint and this was design element they were keen to keep. Their tea point now is within the open-plan space but is shielded with tall storage office furniture from the main workspace area.

The location of the breakout area was a large part of the consideration when designing the teapoint as the team had to identify the best and most economical route for the water and waste to run to keep costs down.

The office kitchen was a graphite gloss in keeping with their corporate colours and the rest of the office design.

Fireproof Room

This was a vital feature and needed special design and planning considerations for adequate protection times and space for files to be stored.

Linear meterage had to be calculated for the entire workplace but the measurements for the this room was the most important to ensure there was enough space for their existing filed. Getting this design right meant that our client’s customers could have peace of mind that their files were well protected.

The walls for this room in the office space were painted in the same finish as the rest of the workplace to minimise it dominating the space, meeting the brief.

The Result

Our client now has an office that caters for the high-security features they required in a prime location in Maidstone. Their office space fits in seamlessly with the unusual shape of the building, reflecting their brand with sophisticated elements to compliment the importance and nature of the business.

Having worked on the entire building at Riverside House in Maidstone with Watson Day Commercial Agents, we had completed projects for Crowe UK and Questor Insurance so we knew the building well. Through competitive tender we designed this new modern space for our financial client.
