Maidstone Community Support Centre

Refurbishment of a community support café in Maidstone, to encourage its users towards healthy eating and socialising in a modern area. Our client required a modern and fresh area making a feature of the large glass ceiling as a focal point.

Our expert design team set about enhancing this space with the idea of not only making the café a fun, sociable place to eat but also a motivational work space for training individuals with learning difficulties. With this in mind we didn’t want the space to be too bold and bright but something simplistic and eye catching.

By showing our client with 3D Visualisation concepts we provided inspiration for the space. 3D eliminates any confusion for clients and avoids unwanted project surprises.

The Project Brief

The project included refurbishment of existing male and female washrooms; by providing bespoke wood laminate cubicle systems and vanity wash basin units.

Creating a serving hatch from the kitchen through to the eatery, enhancing the lighting, we also installed a new suspended ceiling with café drop lighting and a feature wall vinyl. Different areas of the floor were re-laid in wood laminate and “concrete” vinyl. Finally we enhanced the door access system for DDA compliance.

Our Furniture manager proposed bright, modern and versatile furniture.

MCSC requested our help for the café logo for the launch of their new stylish café.

Project Timescale: 4th November – 13th December

“Since 1986 when we bought the old nurses home in Marsham we have updated and improved this wonderful old Victorian building. The Charity provides offices for 30 community groups, and meeting rooms for another 250. We welcome a total of 30,000 volunteers and visitors a year.When we decided to open a Cafe which would provide training placements for adults with learning disabilities we wanted to create a space that was visually stunning, exciting and inviting. We wanted our trainees to be proud and motivated, our visitors to linger and chat and our charity staff to choose The Cafe at Marsham Street as their favourite food-stop.”
