Rap Interiors Lights Up Maidstone

Maidstone Town Hall is now one of the first iconic buildings within the town centre to be illuminated as part of the Town Team Regeneration group’s piloted lighting strategy. This strategy is being developed to visually enhance and improve the look of Maidstone Town Centre by illuminating key areas of the town including, gateway locations, monuments, sculptures, landscape features and also historic buildings like the Town Hall.
By introducing LED lighting on particular buildings of interest in Maidstone, it will create improved areas of safety and security by enhancing public realm spaces after dark. This will also reduce the town’s light pollution creating a more sustainable, energy efficient environment.
As the Grade 1 listed Town Hall is a key and historic building in Maidstone, with the surrounding Jubilee Square recently refurbished, it seemed fitting that it was the first to be illuminated. Rap’s Director, Julie Anderson was part of the Maidstone Town Team and helped to bring this project forward by providing the LED lights and installation with the help of NE Electrical.
After completion of the external light installation to the ground floor stonework and rooftop Cupola she comments saying:
Rap Interiors Ltd
“Maidstone – the County town of Kent unfortunately lost out on a Portas Pilot Regeneration bid but our pro-active Maidstone Borough Council got the backing and support of a number of business people in the town and we formed different Town Teams to focus on marketing the town’s activities, raising the profile of prestigious buildings, with a vision to improving areas of the town in general. Following the fantastic High Street refurbishment the Town Team I was involved with decided to push for a lighting strategy. It has been a unique project but delivered outstanding results. The 4 colour light changes can reflect the four seasons of the year.”

Rap Interiors Design Director. Overall the new LED lighting on the Town Hall complements the clean, new space of Jubilee Square. As an additional feature the coloured lights will be altered to reflect key national and international events throughout the year.
