Having recently been chosen to design and build a new gin distillery in Maidstone, we are delighted to announce that phase one of the works began this month.

The client, Maidstone Distillery, is working with us to transform a listed building located in the famous Market Buildings (Corn Exchange), just off the high street. The listed building will ultimately be used as a distillery, tourist attraction and bar, making for a unique addition to the town.

Darren Graves, the Maidstone Distillery founder, is restoring the tradition of pioneer Maidstone distiller George Bishop, who created quality and renowned spirits in the 18th and 19th centuries.

As the building was originally a hairdresser, phase one will consist of demolition works to all necessary fixtures and fittings to make way for the new design. The new design will include everything from distillery equipment to a swanky new bar, as shown in the picture above.

Phase two will entail getting the distillery up and running to enable Darren and the team to make their gin on-site. For an update on phase two, three and four, keep an eye on the Rap Interiors social media pages and news section.

Maidstone Distillery Joins Rap at the Kent Construction Expo

In other news, we also invited Maidstone Distillery to join our stand at the Kent Construction Expo in Detling. The day was a great success, with the Maidstone Distillery helping to attract more visitors to the stand with their delicious gin. So delicious, in fact, that there was none left by the end of the day!
