Complete college fit out and refurbishment of new computing, gaming and ICT academy with top of the range, high spec IT equipment and facilities.
Phase 2 of works for East Kent College in Dover, Kent.
Having previously completed refurbishment and fit out works for the College Travel and Tourism academy facilities on the 3rd floor, our next phase was to carry out works on the 2nd floor for the Computing and Gaming facilities.
The brief for Phase 2 was to convert the 1x open plan classroom into 8 rooms, including 5 classrooms, 1 staffroom and a server room to accommodate the hi-tech IT equipment.
Rap Interiors worked with the Kent College to space plan and create a modern school ICT suite design layout that incorporated everything the Computing and Gaming course required.
East Kent College - Before & After Comparison
To achieve this the original interconnecting staircase between the 1st and 2nd floor had to be removed and filled to create a new floor on which the largest ICT classroom could be designed and refurbed on. The additional 4 classrooms were designed around this main study room and built using stud wall partitioning.
Due to the large number of technology equipment that would be required for the course, we installed throughout the ICT suite refurbishmentdouble data to every desk and re-routed the existing fibre optic cable and re-terminated it. The ICT suite furniture was provided by the college.
The sever room was fitted out and installed with anti-static vinyl and a new air conditioning unit.
Incorporating the branding colours of East Kent College, the walls were re-decorated including a corporate colour feature wall painted in purple.
The classroom flooring was a mixture of funky “Transformations” carpet flooring from Interface and Polysafe Stand – Twilight and Silver Birch wood were used within the corridors and washrooms.
A new suspended ceiling was installed into all the rooms on the 2nd floor along with additional data cabling, trunking, skirting and flat panel LED lighting with dimmable control units.
The previous ventilation system was also upgraded and improved.
The current school toilets on the 2nd floor were also refurbished with new sanitary ware, IPS panels and safety vinyl flooring.
