The junior school had expressed concerns that teaching staff were not utilising the staff room due to it being situated on the 2nd floor, with furnishings and decorations that were considered ‘grubby’. This resulted in teachers eating and planning lessons within their classroom – which was not very practical.
Our passionate school interior design team created a staff room concept that was funky, modern and also focused on incorporating the green in the brand colour of Bournville School.
We also paid particular attention to the Bournville Carillon Bell Towerin the school which had its mechanical systems on show within the teacher’s staff room. Using this as the focal point we showed Bourneville 2 options of 3D designs showing inspirational teachers staff room ideas.
For decorations we chose white predominantly to enhance both natural light from the existing skylights and the reflected light from the new LED up lighters which completed this school refurbishment.
A delighted client now has an amazing functional staff room space practical for both staff meetings, training areas and also for staff to relax in their break. The project was completed within the 6 weeks summer holidays 2015.
“It was a great school project to work on. The location of the school and the design of the original room gave us a great scope to work with. Bournville were very accommodating with access and facilities, leaving us to concentrate on giving them a great staff room to enjoy over the coming years.”
