Client Background

Founded in 1968, Kenward Trust is a charity that that changes the lives of people who are struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. Every year they transform the lives of more than 200 men and women through helping to provide treatment and rehabilitation.

Client Brief

Kenward Trust contacted Rap to transform their scruffy and dated on site café. This would entail updating the serving counter and lounge area to ensure it was more hospitable for residents and visitors.

Rap’s Interior Design Solution

To help Kenward Trust visualise the new space, Rap’s interior designers from Kent provided 3D designs and space plans. The designs and plans would not only bring a new perspective to the table, but allow Kenward Trust to make changes before the work began. With the plan agreed, Rap set to transforming the space.

In order to make the café more hospitable, Rap introduced a stunning array of lounge and dining furniture. These café furniture solutions were specifically chosen to compliment the pastel paint scheme and ultimately create a calm and soothing environment.

For a striking focal point as you enter the café, Rap’s interior designers from Kent created a bespoke serving counter. The design included vintage style panelling, metal display shelving, storage solutions, a sink area and a crisp white counter top, thus ensuring the serving area was both visually impactful and practical for staff.

One challenge of this project was retaining some of the original look of the café, which meant updating some existing elements. Through careful planning and great work from Rap’s subcontractors, features such as the fireplace and window shutters were unspoiled during the works and restored to their former glory.
