Swedish company, Scania is a major supplier of trucks, buses, coaches and engines for industrial and marine applications throughout the UK.

Client Brief

Working in partnership with the Gallagher Group, Rap Interiors were appointed to carry out dry lining, partitioning and ceiling works at Scania’s new £6m Maidstone Depot.

Project Summary

Brooklyn Park, Maidstone was developed by local Kent Contractor, Gallagher Group. The Maidstone depot is the first of its kind in the UK. It was built and designed to be a drive-through dealership similar to another Scania branch in Brussels.

Maidstone was chosen as the best location for the new dealership due to it being situated off Junction 6 of the M20, providing an extensive range of services for commercial vehicle operators in the South East and also traffic entering and leaving the UK by way of the Kent ports and the Channel Tunnel.

Rap Interiors were appointed one of the specialist sub-contractors on the development for dry lining, office partitioning and suspended ceiling works.

Working inside the newly built warehouse unit we installed new divisional walls with all the wall linings to the interior of the industrial unit, forming the new offices, canteen, shower rooms and training areas.
A range of internal office partition systems including jumbo fire walls and standard stud partitioning up to 6 metres high were fitted to separate the 2-storey office space from the factory.

We also supplied and fitted suspended ceilings to all the office areas with different types of ceiling tile, from wet room to fully acoustic solutions, and also a standard tile along with fire curtains to the ceiling void.

The main challenge for us during this fit out project was working alongside other contractors and to make sure we didn’t delay anyone else on site (or be delayed ourselves).

This project was all about co-ordination and teamwork with all contractors on site, particularly with electrical and mechanical elements of the project.

We liaised with Gallagher and the other trades to re-schedule the order of works to overcome co-ordination issues, providing solutions and alternative materials.

Thank You for Choosing Rap Interiors as Your Fit Out Contractor

Overall we were proud to be involved in this large industrial depot project which will help bring new investment and business to Maidstone over the coming years.

We look forward to working with the Gallagher Group in the future on more refurbishment and fit out projects.
