About the Client
Walthamstow Academy is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Walthamstow, London. It is one of a family of academies sponsored by United Learning, the largest single sponsor of academies in the UK.
Walthamstow Academy needed an experienced fit out contractor to revamp its dated and scruffy student washrooms. The brief outlined that the washrooms needed to be clean and clinical, fit for purpose and durable enough to withstand regular use. Furthermore, the washrooms needed to look modern and inviting as events often take place within the premises.
With this brief in mind, one priority was to install robust sanitary ware – including sinks, taps, basins and panels – to ensure the space was functional and hard wearing. To make the space more inviting, our school design team integrated a light and dark grey colour scheme, giving it a sophisticated look suitable for events.
Other key elements of the space include new ceiling tiles to replace the previously damaged ones, an “ambulant” accessibility toilet with grab rails, modern metal-framed mirrors and wipeable concrete-effect flooring.
Through working with an experience interior fit out company in Rap Interiors, Walthamstow Academy was able to achieve its design goals on time and on budget. The durable and modern new design has dramatically improved the standard of the washrooms, helping to make a good impression on students, staff and visitors alike.
