Last Sunday 17th September, Gavin, our Estimator, conquered the Hospice in the Weald 10k charity run in Tunbridge Wells.  From a hectic work schedule estimating for our interior design and fit out projects to 10K charity runs, nothing phases our Gavin!  Rap Interiors proudly sponsored Gavin for his run and were pleased we could support his fund raising efforts.

Hospice in the Weald Charity Run

This fun filled event catered for all, with a variety of participants and varying levels to the course. The professional and more experienced runners accomplishing a half marathon, whilst the less intense course was completed by those with young children competing in the family fun run.  Despite their age and/or experience, everyone attended with same goal- to raise much needed funds for the worthy Hospice in the Weald. Let’s find out how Gavin did and a little more about why he chose to take part in the event.

Why did Gavin choose this Charity Run?

Gavin had taken up running post-covid after leaving the gym, and had his eye on this event for the last few years. He decided that 2023 was his year, biting the bullet and signing up to support this local charity.

How did Gavin tackle the course?

The run came with some challenges, one being the steep hills in the second half of the course, but Gavin found this to be an attraction to the course and wanted to face the challenge of the steeper inclines.  The race went well by pacing himself at the start, this proved a good decision as he finished mid-table at a very respectable 215th place out of 350 runners.  Gavin was proud with his excellent run time of 1hr 4minutes. As he should be!

How did you feel the race went, Gavin?

‘It went really well. It was a good atmosphere, and great to see all those people cheering you on as you go along.’

We are extremely proud of Gavin’s excellent efforts, raising money and supporting such a fantastic charity.  He has raised a total amount of £370, and we would like to thank anyone who has already been generous enough to donate. It’s not too late though, if you would still like to donate, please click here.
