Client Brief

GW Highways approached Rap Interiors with an office refurbishment project for their new offices in Kings Hill, Kent.  Having seen some of our recent projects, the client was inspired to incorporate modern working practices and create an inviting open office space.  In addition to an open plan office, the client sought individual spaces that offered privacy without being separate from the rest of the work force.

Entrance and Waiting Area

Our interior designers created an inviting entrance to the offices, with a branded feature wall comprising of sleek wood effect slat panels and a bright back lit acrylic logo, which also gives the waiting area a sense of identity.  The area is zoned with statement contrasting carpet planks and two high back winged waiting chairs finished in a bold blue fabric to reference the client’s branded colours.

Main Office

The main office boasts an open plan approach, with modern office furniture carefully placed according to our interior designer’s intelligent space planning.  The client opted to re-use existing desks, whilst our interior designers specified contemporary new task chairs with blue seat pads to again push their corporate image. The new slime line under desk pedestals were specified in white to coordinate with their existing desking.

Open plan offices require careful zoning to ensure each space has identity. GW Highways opted to continue the theme of contrasting carpet tiles to aid this, and denoted the working spaces from the circulation areas. Tall anthracite storage units have been placed at the end of work stations with planter tops. The faux foliage brings a biophilic element to the space and enhances the overall aesthetics of the office interior design scheme.

Our team created two private offices by installing a partition and glazed frontage to each office, side-by-side. The layout and visual aesthetic was suggested by our interior designers to meet visual inspiration that the client had sourced.

The executive desks were bespoke items of furniture, made according to the client’s suggested design. We took their ideas on board and created the sophisticated desk they were looking for.  Upholstered side chairs offer a bright pop of coral to each office and provide required occasional seating for clients and colleagues alike. A contrasting statement carpet tile was installed, again defining the different use of space but continuing the flooring design through from the entrance area.

Boardroom

The client took a sustainable approach in re-using their existing boardroom table and chairs but combined with new elements of design to create a unified space. The inclusion of a new credenza unit with an integrated fridge, installation of contemporary blinds and branded manifestation to the glazing has left the client with a sleek and modern meeting space to host visitors.

Kitchen Area and Storage Room

The existing kitchen was of good quality and required minimal works to turn it into a functional space. A poseur height breakfast bar was installed to match their existing worktop, modern dining furniture with touches of natural wood finishes and bright blues, continuing the branded colour scheme throughout.

A main storage area was created to house the client’s printer/scanner as well as additional storage cabinets. Wooden slatted panels were also fitted in this space to bring some visual interest as well as complimenting the feature wall seen in the entrance.
