Rap Interiors teamed up with Construction Youth Trust to take part in a community centre renovation project. Located at Fleetdown Community Centre in Dartford, the project entailed refurbishing several rooms and creating a sensory board for nursery children.

Our interior designer Alice Carr was responsible for overseeing the sensory board creation for the nursery. She assisted by giving guidance to the local young people, who, with the help of Construction Youth Trust, are learning the skills they need to find work in the construction industry.

Over the course of the week, the young people succeeded in refurbishing the community centre and learned some valuable skills along the way, from painting & decorating to carpentry.

These skills helped them to create the sensory board which will undoubtedly add a touch of fun and colour to the nursery.

I had a great time helping the guys to create the sensory board. They all did really well during the week and I was impressed with their enthusiasm and willingness to learn. It’s great that Construction Youth Trust is helping young people in this way and I was delighted when they asked me to lend a hand. I look forward to hearing how the young people progress in the construction industry; based on this evidence I’m sure they will all enjoy successful careers!

Prior to this venture, Rap also took on work experience student Maddie, who was interested in interior design. Maddie also came to Rap via Construction Youth Trust and spent the week with the design department. During that time, she created a mood board and tried her hand at Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
