Rap Interiors has always been involved in helping the younger generation find work in the construction industry. Not only has the company taken on plenty of work experience students and apprentices, it also takes great pride in attending careers fairs across the South East.

In October, Rap was once again doing its part in helping young people to discover more about life in the construction industry. To kick off the month, Rap welcomed work experience student Maddie, who was interested in interior design. Maddie spent a week with the Rap interior designers, who showed her the ropes and passed on plenty of useful knowledge.

Maddie spoke to us about her experience:

“I learned how to use a CAD (Computer Aided Design), re-design a room and create a moodboard. I really enjoyed working with the design team and everyone at Rap was very helpful and friendly.”

In addition to taking on Maddie for a week of valuable work experience, three members of the Rap Interiors team visited Maidstone Grammar School for Girls for a careers exhibition. Operations Manager Emily Barton, Marketing Manager Chris Sparham and Designer Sarah Harris were on the Rap stand giving advice to any students interested in interior design and construction.

Julie Anderson, Rap Interiors Design Director, comments on Rap’s participation:

“It’s really important that we educate the youth of today on the career opportunities available in the construction industry. Given there are so many fantastic career paths it’s such a shame there is still a big skills gap.

“In taking on work experience students and offering guidance we hope to encourage a few more young people to pursue a career in our sector. I’m pleased to say that we’ve already seen plenty of enthusiastic students, both in Maddie and the Maidstone Grammar girls, so the future is looking bright!”

Everyone at Rap Interiors would like to wish the Maidstone Grammar students all the best for what will undoubtedly be a bright future. The team would also like to thank Maddie for lending a hand during the half term break.
