Let’s Bring a Sparkle to Maidstone Care Homes this Christmas

For many years Rap Interiors has been committed to helping local and this year we are hoping to bring some smiles and love to those living in Care Homes in Maidstone this Christmas.

Care homes will have a big task to achieve this year in making all the residents feel loved and special at this special time of year, which is going to be hard.

With the three-tier system coming back into play and stricter lockdown restrictions, it’s not going to be easy for some residents of care homes to see their relatives, if at all. The effects of the pandemic have been hard enough on businesses and people’s lives and this seems to be another hard pill to swallow.

The Power of Social Media

Through the power of Facebook and scrolling past a simple plea for help to provide something special for some Maidstone Care Homes, the post prompted Rap Interiors to get involved.

We are working with Kayte John, a Teaching Assistant for special needs at Madginford Primary School, as well as her huge following of residents and locals, we are supporting this challenge as a local business ourselves.

Design Director Julie and the Rap Interiors team here are working hard to make this Christmas as special as we can, along with Lyndsey from Gallagher Group and Jan from Rift Group, two other local businesses.

How You Can Help

Sponsor the Gift of Singing?

The power of song is immense. Listening to music can provide emotional and behavioural benefits for those in Care Homes, mostly who have Dementia of some sorts.

Residents memories relate to music and relieve stress, anxiety and depression and reduce agitation. Key brain areas linked to music in the memory bank are undamaged by this disease. It helps those particularly who are finding it hard/impossible to communicate.

Please can you sponsor an hour of song so we can continue to give in 2021.

For just £50.00 Jen Shilling can visit our Maidstone care homes and sing to the residents and staff for one hour.

The monies donated to this page will be used to purchase gifts, food and vouchers to provide to the giving trees in various Care homes across Maidstone, Kent.

Buy a Gift/Voucher from a Local Business

Donate the gift and deliver to our office where will be distributing the donations to a number of local Maidstone Care Homes.

Any donations of non-perishable foods will go under the tree, wrapped with name tags on.

We also want to recognise carers in those homes, so hampers for homes will also be delivered.

Our local hospital Maidstone in Hermitage Lane, we also feel needs to be thanked and so several hampers will be going there too.

We are encouraging all local businesses to get in touch with us so we can not only encourage others to donate with your products but also spread the awareness of how important it is to shop locally this year and support small, local businesses.

Past Rap Christmas Mission’s

Over the last few years, Rap Interiors has become committed to helping locally.

Last years Christmas achievement, following on from a successful campaign in 2018, we lead the way in another “Help the Homeless at Christmas”.

We encouraged local companies and residents to support the campaign and join in to donate money, food and essential items and presents which were all shared between four charities.

We were also able to provide 360 Christmas dinners for homeless people in Maidstone along with everyone receiving a gift pack of essential items and sweets.
