School Refurbishment Brief

Oakfield Prep School chose Rap Interiors to redesign and refurbish three of its classrooms. Two of the classrooms needed to be suitable for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) students.

The school came to Rap Interiors after a successful project three years earlier, which included the refurbishment to multiple classrooms, a library, and a nursery.

Bespoke media wall with seamless tidy storage solution for modern classroom design and refurbishment.

For the SEND classrooms, it was important to the school that they had calming colours. As such, we went for a sage green to create a tranquil, soothing environment for the children. This colour is also complimented by new light grey storage trays.

Keeping the SEND requirements in mind, we redecorated throughout and laid safe, robust new flooring. Further additions include new bespoke media walls, which help to bring learning to life with integrated TV monitors.

The teaching walls provide ample storage, maximising the use of limited space whilst also creating a clean, tidy look with the items concealed behind doors and in trays. This also ensures there are no visual distractions in the classrooms, improving the students’ concentration.

One of the challenges our school interior designers faced was creating more space for science resources. To do so, they created a new doorway under a set of stairs, which made more space for additional storage trays.

Furthermore, Oakfield requested that we introduce a window seat with integrated storage. This was made to match a product we installed on the previous project three years before.

The Result

Following the refurbishment, the school now has modern, sleek and fresh spaces for the children. Moreover, the calm, functional and inspiring SEND classrooms promote an inclusive culture and will undoubtedly help students to thrive.

We were delighted to work with Oakfield Primary School again on this inspiring project. We are proud to be part of the students’ educational journey and wish them a bright, successful future.
