Braunton Academy

Braunton Academy is a coeducational secondary school located in Braunton, North Devon, specialising in mathematics and computing. Established in 1937, the academy serves approximately 740 pupils aged 11 to 16.

Client Brief

Braunton Academy commissioned us to supply and install new furniture for its ICT suite refurbishment. In addition to school furniture procurement, the project required space planning consultancy to ensure a practical layout.

As part of the brief, the school specified it wanted quality finishes to elevate the ICT suite’s aesthetic and withstand heavy use.

In collaboration with the school’s project representative, we created a space plan for the 32-student classroom. The design incorporates rows of desks along two sides of the room and a central island of back-to-back desks. It also includes a teacher’s desk in the corner to provide a clear view of the class.

The presence of a power pole in the centre of the room posed a challenge to the proposed layout. To overcome this, our school interior designers specified bespoke furniture solutions with cutaways to accommodate the obstruction.

To elevate the space aesthetically, our designers procured vibrant orange chairs to complement to the neutral desks. Both the desks and chairs are also made with durable materials to withstand the daily wear and tear of the classroom environment.

The Results

With the help of our design and project teams, Braunton Academy now has contemporary and functional learning environment that will support student learning. The modernised space will undoubtedly inspire students and equip them with the essential ICT skills necessary for a successful future.
