Client Brief

Eversafe Fire Protection contacted Rap Interiors to turn its newly acquired industrial unit into a functional office space. At the time of the enquiry, the space was still in the “shell and core” phase of the fit out, meaning it contained basic internal elements with no practical office facilities.

Therefore, Eversafe required our industrial fit out expertise to design and build a number of key elements, including a small workspace, tea point, storeroom, boardroom, and washrooms. This would entail optimising and extending the building’s mezzanine floor, which also required a new staircase.

Furthermore, the project needed an intelligent office space design and product specification to maximise the exposure of natural light across two floors.

The Solution

First Floor – Main Office

For the main first floor office area, our interior designers devised a departmental configuration that would house 12 employees. They also created individual offices for the company director, accounts manager, and head of HR, making for a traditional setup.

Each individual office is built with a glass fin, helping to maximise the flow of natural light while creating a brighter, more open appearance. For safety purposes and added aesthetic interest, the glass contains frosted manifestation that cascades into thinner strips.

Ground Floor – Boardroom and Staircase

On the ground floor, we maintained an existing external door entrance and installed a large glass-fronted boardroom. Key features of the space include glass manifestation sporting Eversafe’s logo, a large boardroom table, and red chairs to integrate the company’s corporate colours within the design scheme. The chairs also have mesh backs for improved airflow and comfort.

Adjacent to the boardroom, we installed a new staircase for access to the upper level. Here, we applied ply panels to the balustrade for an industrial look, making for a fitting and practical addition to the space.

Tea Point, Washrooms, and Storeroom

Further to this, we created a small tea point where employees can prepare food and grab a hot drink. This area includes a breakfast bar with integrated storage, a marble-effect splashback and worktop, and a recessed windowsill to allow more natural light into the space.

Near the tea point, you can access two office washrooms, both of which include new, robust sanitary ware. Crucially, one of the washrooms meets the requirements for ‘Part M’ of the government building regulations. This sets standards to ensure everyone can access and use the building, including those with disabilities.

You can also access the storeroom from this point, which includes heavy-duty industrial racking to store important equipment.

Other Key Elements

Our project team also oversaw essential renovations to prepare the space for its new function, including the installation of new ceilings with air con units, flooring, and electrical systems.
