The facilitate the open-plan layout in the school corridor, our London interior designers carefully routed the pipework to ensure the waste could flow correctly. This was crucial in allowing us to install the new sinks, which would be situated in a “island” in the middle of the open-plan area.
As a way of reducing truancy levels, our designers built the island at a low-level height so passing staff members could monitor students during lesson time. Further to this, the sinks within the island were fitted with motion-sensitive taps to prevent flood damage caused by students leaving on water.
Aesthetically, the washroom was based on the previous install. The classic yet modern design includes “Metro” tiles (so called because of their likeness to London Underground tiles), a sophisticated light and dark grey colour scheme throughout, and modern circular mirrors.
Other key features of the design include an ambulant toilet with grab rails for disabled users, multiple cubicles with durable sanitary ware, soft LED downlights for a warm and inviting atmosphere, new hand dryers and soap dispensers, water-resistant ceiling tiles, and easy-to-clean vinyl flooring.
