Client Brief

Grupo Bimbo appointed Rap Interiors to design and deliver a refresh of their staff breakout area, washrooms, and corridors. The existing spaces were tired and outdated, and the client wanted a more modern, inviting environment where staff could enjoy their breaks. This included upgraded facilities for preparing drinks and food.

Additionally, the client requested that the washrooms be modernised with easy-to-clean, low-maintenance features and energy-efficient fixtures to support sustainability and long-term usability.

The refurbishment process began with a complete strip-out of the existing breakout area. A new, modern teapoint was installed, featuring grey gloss cupboard doors and black marble-effect compact laminate worktops. Our interior designers specified a stainless steel sink with a white hygienic splashback to ensure easy cleaning and a sleek finish.

To enhance functionality, the tea point includes two integrated microwaves and an instant hot water tap, allowing staff to prepare food and beverages quickly and conveniently. Neutral-coloured paint was applied to the walls, complementing the muted tones of the tea point and new furniture. Durable, wood-effect vinyl flooring was laid to withstand the high-traffic nature of the space.

All existing furniture was replaced with new, hardwearing round dining tables with a wood-effect finish, accompanied by polypropylene chairs in coordinating neutral tones. To create a variety of seating options, free-standing poseur-height breakfast bars and stools were added in matching finishes for a cohesive look.

The washroom refurbishment also involved a full strip-out, with any signs of damp addressed and remedied. The walls were prepped and clad in white hygienic, wipe-clean panelling to enhance cleanliness and ease of maintenance.

New toilet cubicles with a wood-effect finish were installed, alongside upgraded sanitary ware. The design team specified modern Corian trough sinks paired with hands-free stainless steel taps and integrated hand dryers, offering a clean, minimalist aesthetic. Large mirrors were installed above each sink to improve functionality and visual appeal.

The flooring was replaced with safety vinyl and included cap-and-cove edging for a hygienic, seamless finish.

Refurbishment Works Throughout

Across all areas, a new ceiling grid and tiles were installed, along with electrical rewiring and partial plumbing upgrades. New energy-efficient LED lighting was added, as well as additional fire alarm system detectors to ensure full compliance was met.

Communal corridors were refreshed with new vinyl flooring and a fresh coat of paint, aligning them visually with the newly refurbished breakout and washroom areas.

The Results

The team at Grupo Bimbo now benefits from a completely revitalised breakout area, washrooms, and corridor—all thoughtfully redesigned with modern furniture, updated fittings, and a refreshed aesthetic. These upgrades have transformed previously tired and outdated spaces into warm, welcoming environments that staff can genuinely enjoy during their downtime.

The new breakout space prioritises staff wellbeing, fostering relaxation and informal interaction, encouraging a sense of community and collaboration among colleagues.
