Control Tower Fit Out.

Interior Fit Out Brief

To refurbish the renowned Control Tower on Kings Hill with specificied internal fittings, finishes and mechanical and electrical works.

Project Summary

The iconic Control Tower was built in 1942 when the site functioned as an air field during World War II. Taking this into account, our client wanted the interior fit out to reflect the era of the building – but with a modern twist.

The remit from our client was to have the 2nd floor, with its views over Kings Hill, as a meeting room; the 1st as fully functional office space; and further office space and a meeting room on the ground floor next to the newly constructed cultural centre. The cultural centre would be used as shared space, with a potential for a range of uses including exhibitions and education.

This agreed look was achieved by consulting with our client on their preferred finishes and layouts after finalising the office designs and specification.

Working with a colour palette that was crisp and clean (whites, blacks and greys), a vibrant selection of spaces were created. All walls and wood work were decorated throughout, with new Desso Essence stripe carpet laid to all the common areas.

The new private offices and meeting spaces were formed using 10mm toughened glass with manifestations, and new storage solutions were installed throughout.

All of the office space in this building overlooks the fantastic landscape of Kings Hill. The 2nd floor meeting room, in particular, provides a breathtaking and inspiring platform from which to tell the Kings Hill story.

Liberty has invested in safeguarding the future of this important part of Kings Hill’s history, and has registered the Control Tower to be part of the national open heritage days.
