Our Refurbishment Solution

For the new partition, our office interior designers worked closely with Alcatel’s project lead to find a suitable solution. After devising numerous concepts, we agreed to install a half glass and half stud partition wall. The glass half includes the ASN logo and frosted manifestation, instilling the brand identity while allowing natural light to flow into the building. Next to this, the stud wall includes a timber surround with internal lighting, making for a warm, inviting effect that serves as an ideal backdrop for the waiting area.

For the stud wall’s timber surround, our designers took inspiration from the nearby staircase, which sports the same finish. Likewise, the new reception desk takes inspiration from other elements of the building, including the grey aluminium façade and, again, the staircase. The result is a modern desk that combines soft slatted wood and a harsher concrete, making for a visually arresting focal point that is congruent with its surroundings. Furthermore, the desk contains an accessibility recess for disabled users, ensuring DDA compliance.

The next challenge was to make use of the underutilised areas in the reception, including the vacant space below the staircase and the balcony. For the former, we suggested integrating a glass display unit for Alcatel’s key products – ideal for the upcoming royal visit. To complement this feature, we introduced two hanging acoustic panels on the balcony, both of which feature Alcatel’s products.

Finally, we introduced a new fire door in the canteen area for easy access to the outside safety point. With the new partition making access to the main entrance more difficult, the new fire door offers an alternative route in case of emergency, ensuring the premisis is safe for employees.

The Result

With its carefully selected new features, Alcatel’s reception area is undoubtedly more stylish, modern and suitable for its unique needs. The bespoke reception desk, for example, makes a great first impression on visitors and will last for years to come. Equally impressive is the stunning stud and glass partition wall, which offers more than its basic function as a space divider. Our designers’ ingenuity also helped to optimise the areas of dead space, ensuring the office looks full and complete.

We are delighted to say that our project team and skilled tradespeople completed the work in time for the royal visit. Like the Alcatel employees, we are confident that the royal representative will be impressed with the results!
