About the Client

Martin Tolhurst is a long established law firm with offices across Kent, including Gravesend, Longfield, Ashford, Dartford, Medway and Sittingbourne.

Office Refurbishment Brief

Martin Tolhurst commissioned Rap Interiors to refurbish their tired and dated three storey Gravesend office. Among the areas that needed refurbishing were the basement tea points and toilets; the first floor boardroom, meeting rooms and reception area; and the office staircase.

Rap’s Office Refurbishment Solution

Reception

Rap Interiors’ office designers transformed the reception area by introducing a number of new features. These included a curved reception desk with the Martin Tolhurst logo; a sophisticated chandelier; soft waiting chairs for visiting guests; decorative wall canvases displaying the company’s services; a standing advertising banner; and a wall decoration combination of light blue paint and pattern wallpaper.

It was also important to Martin Tolhurst that some of the existing period features remained. Therefore, Rap re-painted the decorative coving and ensured no damage was done to the marble fireplace during the office refurbishment.

Boardroom

For the boardroom transformation, the design scheme followed a similar pattern to the reception. For example, Rap installed the same chandelier and wall decorations, while the existing marble fireplace also remained.

To add extra character to the boardroom, Rap’s office designers introduced a wall of framed pictures displaying clients’ positive feedback, a period style clock and plant decorations. For practicality, Rap also installed a large boardroom table and a screen for presentations.

Meeting Rooms

Rap Interiors created three glass-fronted meeting rooms to improve staff communication at Martin Tolhurst. To ensure the meeting rooms were safe and functional, Rap introduced LED lighting, bespoke glass manifestation with the Martin Tolhurst logo, and storage solutions. Aesthetically, each meeting room sported a similar design scheme, with a round meeting table and two tone wall paint.

Tea Point

Following the removal of the existing tea point, Rap Interiors set to implementing the new office interior design, which consisted of a blue colour scheme, LED lights and laminate flooring. To make the space functional, Rap also introduced storage solutions, a sink, a fridge and microwave.

Staircase

To transform the staircase, Rap Interiors started by upgrading the existing structure. This entailed laying new carpet and re-painting the spindles and handrail. Additionally, Rap painted the surrounding walls in a two tone colour scheme and introduced new WC direction signage.

Thank you for choosing Rap Interiors

Martin Tolhurst now has a dynamic and functional office space that mixes period features with modern design. We are delighted to have been a part of the transformation, which will help the law firm to boost productivity in the office and, in turn, continue their success in Kent.
