Founded in 2006, Hudl is a leading software company that provides sports teams with the tools to edit and share video, study play diagrams, and produce highlight reels for entertainment and recruiting.
The whole experience is available online, and Hudl now boast over 150,000 active teams and 5.5million unique users across the world.
Rap were approached to tender for the design and office fit out works for Hudl’s new workspace in London. Having received Hudl’s design brief, our London interior designers then presented 2D plans fitting with the client’s specification.
Hudl wanted to adopt an ‘activity’ based working style, where employees are not allocated desks, but given the freedom to choose how they want to work. The idea is to allow employees to choose a mode of working which is best for the task at hand – therefore the space needed to be optimised to fulfil this remit.
To achieve this, the office interior design included data ports situated around the office to enable the use of wireless technology, café style booths for meetings, a relaxing lounge for quiet concentration, and multiple furniture solutions for collaborative or individual working.
Hudl also wanted several private rooms for meetings, video chats and phone calls. Rap contributed designs to ensure sound attenuation was maintained. Rap also interlinked the meeting rooms with the new smoke alarm and emergency lighting systems, and reworked the power, data and lighting for the electrical solutions.
Hudl - Before and After Comparison
Much of the infrastructure design was implemented by Rap Interiors too, including an expanding metal ceiling to achieve an exposed, industrial look.
In order to reflect Hudl’s company identity, the office interior design was sports themed with their corporate colour of orange used throughout. The final design included a bespoke ping pong table with company logo within a UK map, graffiti wall with football team badges, running track, gym lockers, and grass covered walls within the meeting rooms. Each room was also named after a UK sporting hero (Johnny Wilkson, Hope Powell, Bradley Wiggins etc.), and had an electronic display panel showing their image and information such as meeting times.
Hudl now have a modern, state-of-the-art workplace that matches their company identity and facilitates an activity based style of working. Overall we are delighted to have contributed to this modern, state-of-the-art office space, which will help Hudl to continue to grow as a company.
